At the age of 12, he was already making pinholes to capture light. Following scientific studies in Morocco and abroad, Khalil Nemmaoui decided to devote his time exclusively to photography. He worked as a photographer for the early 90s magazines and held his first solo exhibition; \u201cCasablanca Fragments d\u2019imaginaire\u201d at the Casablanca French Institute in 1996.\nKhalil Nemmaoui then turned to humanist photography before moving back to landscapes. He published Portfolio in \u201cLa Revue noire\u201d in 1998, and has taken part in several group and solo exhibitions. In 2009, his most iconic series \u201cLa Maison de l\u2019Arbre\u201d (The Tree House) was featured at Mus\u00e9e du Quai Branly's Photoquai biennale and at the Caroussel du Louvre as part of \u201cParis Photo\u201d. He went on to take part in numerous residencies and exhibitions, including in 2010 and 2012 at the \u201cShart\u201d Gallery. He thus exhibited his work at prestigious festivals both in Europe and the United States. His series \u201cLa Maison de l\u2019Arbre\u201d won the Francophonie award at the International Photography Encounters of Bamako in 2011 and was nominated for the Pictet Prize.\nKhalil Nemmaoui took part in several artist residencies, including at \u201cLa Cit\u00e9 des Arts\u201d in Paris in 2010, and the Head Land Center for the Arts in San Fransisco in 2014. Khalil Nemmaoui's photographic work is represented in various collections, including those of the Mohammed VI Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, Fondation CDG, Fondation Attijari Wafabank, Fondation Alliances and the Arab World Institute in Paris. <br \/>Khalil Nemmaoui se penche ensuite sur la photographie humaniste avant de revenir vers le paysage. Il publie Portfolio dans \u00ab La Revue Noire \u00bb en 1998, et participe \u00e0 plusieurs expositions collectives et individuelles. En 2009, sa s\u00e9rie la plus embl\u00e9matique \u00ab La Maison de l\u2019Arbre \u00bb est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 la biennale Photoquai du Mus\u00e9e du Quai Branly et au Caroussel du Louvre pour le \u00ab Paris Photo \u00bb. Il expose ainsi son travail dans des festivals prestigieux en Europe et aux Etats Unis. Sa s\u00e9rie La Maison de l\u2019Arbre remporte le prix de la Francophonie aux Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie \u00e0 Bamako en 2011 et est nomin\u00e9 pour le Prix Pictet. <br \/>Khalil Nemmaoui a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs r\u00e9sidences d\u2019artistes dont \u00ab La Cit\u00e9 des Arts \u00bb \u00e0 Paris en 2010, et le Head Land Center for the Arts \u00e0 San Fransisco en 2014.
