Unparalleled artistic experience since 2016

A building…

Built in 1932, the 1'500 sqm historic art-deco gem used to house ‘Comptoir des Mines’, a trading company in mining goods. The offices, apartments and warehouses spread over two wings, two floors and the adjoining hangar. The building was then abandoned in the 1990s for more than two decades before being brought back to life during the Marrakech Biennial 2016 with a whole new purpose…

The heritage that we were left with is this timeless and unmistakably art-deco ambiance, from the entrance, the terrazzo floor and walls, to the staircases and the windows. A meticulous restoration has been carefully crafted since the gallery opening by following the original style criteria, adding vintage switches, chandeliers and doors. It has been enhanced even more in 2023 and 2024 opening the spaces giving light and depth to spaces. Upon one visit, the large ‘CM’ written in golden mosaic on the floor at the entrance, welcomes and farewells. These initials of the historical company are the reflection of one of our core values: authenticity, present in every project we carry.

A conviction…

In 2016, Hicham Daoudi introduced a project: to revive a long-forgotten architectural jewel by transforming it into an atypical art venue, with the mission to support the local art scene and enrich the artistic dynamism of the city and the artistic influence of the country. The 1’200 sqm setting seemed to perfectly serve the idea. Often described as a ‘one-of-a-kind experience’, promoting ‘original and bold’ art, Comptoir des Mines Galerie has gradually gained appreciation and recognition nationally and internationally thanks to the space itself, for its vision and the quality of its curation. It quickly became a place where people can meet, discover and celebrate art thanks to a team that works precisely to raise and promote Moroccan and foreign artistic geniuses and talents with strong techniques and messages, and poignant stories that echo the gallery's DNA. In 2021, Comptoir des Mines Galerie launched MAJAZ, an independent artistic program conceived as an artistic incubator that supports emerging artists in producing their very first solo exhibition.

Since then…

Each year, Comptoir des Mines Galerie hosts hundreds of visitors from all around the world, thanks to a dense artistic program with in situ vernissages, solo and collective exhibitions, talks and meetings with the artists. All year-round, the gallery is opened on free admission for individual and group visits with a team of curators at your disposal to assist you during your tour. You can meet the team outside of the gallery, in Morocco and abroad, on curation and collaborative projects with museums and institutions (Bank Al-Maghrib Museum 2019, MuCEM 2019, MRAC Occitanie 2021), and on international art fairs (Art Dubai 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, Art Paris 2023, Menart Fair 2024, Editions Art & Design, 2024, ZSONAMACO 2025).
