Kamil Bouzoubaa-Grivel

Born in 1992, Kamil Bouzoubaa-Grivel is a Franco-Moroccan artist who lives and works between France and Morocco. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

His practice explores the relationship between digital imagery and manual gesture. Drawing on forms, signs and structures derived from the digital realm, he develops a practice rooted in drawing and composition that blurs the boundaries between print and gesture, abstraction and illusion. His work examines the ways in which contemporary images are produced, translated, transformed and perceived.

His work has been presented in numerous institutions and art spaces in France, Belgium and Morocco, including Fondation Pernod Ricard, Bétonsalon – Centre for Art and Research, La Panacée – MOCO, Fondation Fiminco, Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles and Fondation TGCC. He has also undertaken several international residencies, notably at the Cité Internationale des Arts and Villa Belleville in Paris, Fondation Boghossian – Villa Empain in Brussels, Jester in Genk, and Fondation Montresso in Marrakech.

Lauréat du Prix de dessin de la Fondation Hugot – Collège de France en 2019, du Prix Takesada Matsutani en 2020 et du Prix Mustaqbal en 2024, Kamil Bouzoubaa-Grivel poursuit une recherche où dessin, matérialité et culture visuelle contemporaine se rencontrent.

In 2025, he presented the solo exhibition Sous les tesselles, la page at Artorium, curated by Hicham Bouzid, further extending his research into the translation of digital imagery into hand-produced forms.
